The August Heroes!

by Plaridel

August may be just a simple or ordinary month within the year.... but for a typical Filipino this is not just August but it is a month where two of the most significant person who change the Philippine setting today and even the lives of every Filipino... They brought back democracy in the Philippines and brings back the rights that we are enjoying now...
It was August 21, 1983, Ninoy was shot in the head as he was escorted off the plane together with the alledged gunman Rolando Galman. Ninoy was layed in the glass coffin where every Filipino people saw his disfigured face, all the Filipino people mourn to the lost of ninoy, without any communications (no cellphone back them), people gather around to mourn their lost... Almost all the Filipino poeple where there to the funeral of Ninoy wherein fact Ninoy's funeral procession on Auggust 31 lasted from 9 am to 9pm, the longest funeral march in the Philippines..
With the assasination of Ninoy, the heart of the Filipino people, they where filled with vengence... it has started the revolution to topple down the government, this is the start of the Poeple Power Revolution, a peacful revolution against the government..
The government was toppled down and the wife of Ninoy was put into power, she made very significant changes in the government, the Bill of Rights was then incorporated to the constitution. It gives right to the people, the freedom that the poeple should enjoy.
Agust 1, 2009 the former president Corazon Aquino our Icon of Democracy and the wife of Ninoy passed away, another lost to our people.... Almost 300,000 to 400,00 people mach as they mourn the death of the Former President...
The Icon of Democracy was both laid side by side together, this is the true testament of together forever till death do us part... a love story of the two true hero of democracy! a symbol an icon and the father and mother of the Filipino people!
We may had laid them to rest but their teachings and their idologies should always remain with us! "IPAGPAPATULOY NATIN ANG LABAN"
